| On-going Recording and LP Production for Edinburgh based band KiDDO. Each part was allocated a unique recording session. Drums, Bass, Lead Guitars & Vocals. Each session is recorded directly to Pro Tools and stems created for Mix Engineering where the sound of the band begins to take shape. This project is satisfying from the viewpoint that the band want a finished 'sound' that is less generic in terms of a finished rock mix. |

Recording and Engineering of real-world sounds & dialogue together with leading-edge Sound Design provided the audio narrative for this engaging Stop-Frame Animation. The project was both exciting and challenging as the movie relies heavily on powerful sound design to evoke the tension, drama and eerie spatial qualities of a dream-world through a young child's imagination. One of the nicest challenges was designing voices for the unseen shadows. This was solved with a trip to the zoo & countryside where elements of Jaguar, Donkey, Fox and Hamster recordings were combined in post-production with innovative sound design treatments. A Mocha Pot also provided a single voice with a short sharp burst of gurgling steam! |

Director of Sound Design, Michael Cullen, was invited by the ECA Animation department for a 2nd series of mentoring sessions for final year B. A. Animation degree students. By engaging in one-to-one advisory sessions the students could explore specific Sound Design theory and practice pertaining to their individual work. These sessions helped prepare the students prior to contracting external sound designers and enabled a better standard of cross-discipline dialogue and collaboration. |

Launch of a Logic Pro Power User Forum offering tips and tricks for a more efficient work-flow. Although Pro Tools is still very much the accepted industry standard digital platform for Audio Post-Production, Logic Pro has become a serious contender. In recognition of this we have launched a Logic Pro Power User Forum on the popular myspace.com community site to encourage students and practitioners alike to master this affordable alternative pro-class DAW. At 83dB we utilise both platforms and port sessions back and forth with consummate ease. Logic Pro is well-equipped for Music orientated sound design and digital synthesis, while Pro Tools is still the choice 'high-pressure' Audio-Editing Suite. |

Album Project 1 has 8 tracks with a wide variation of electronic, acoustic and vocal content. It is an interesting challenge to engage, not only in terms of Engineering independent mixes but also, engineering a suitable Master due to the varying dynamics across the project as a whole.
is an all-electronic affair defined within a popular genre. An enjoyable set of mixes to engineer followed up by a smooth mastering session. |
| Completion of Music for Gillette's FIFA 2006 World Cup Advertising Campaign. The
brief was well laid out and the composition executed & turned around
in 3 days. |
| Multiple Briefs for 2 Commercials. A mixture of Sound Design and Middle Eastern Musical Influences to carry the slogan 'Defies Logic'. The
version that was chosen for broadcast is almost identical to our pitch
- A compliment to our efforts produced and delivered within a challenging
timescale and to a very uncertain brief. |
Short Film Sound Design. We recently provided bespoke Sound Design and Post Production for emerging director Ling Lee's latest work entitled "The When". A very challenging brief in terms of a theme based around distortions and how to tackle the conundrum of distortions without sounding too sonically distorted. Intelligent
application of sound treatments on lo-fidelity source material was employed
and spatial treatments kept to a minimum for an up front sound track
with a complex micro-dynamic infrastructure. |
| Network Branding. Sound Design and Audio Post-Production for 8 ten-second TV idents for Channel 4's (E4) Entertainment Channel. Quirky
('a bit naff' as per brief) sounds were employed as a bed to compliment
the distinctively English and fun voice-over associated with the brand. |
